Marcelle Dominique Versteeg - Cella Marcy - is an illustrator, visual artist and designer based in Cape Town, South Africa. Since graduating from North-West University in Potchefstroom with a BA in Graphic Design, Marcy spent six years working and travelling across Southeast Asia first as an EFL teacher and soon returning to her vocation as illustrator, graphic designer and muralist. Her work during this time included a series of mural commissions in Sri Lanka and culminated in a collection of prints that continue to be sold at Collective Memory in Hanoi, Vietnam. Her work as illustrator for animation began in 2020 at the all female creative production studio We Are Batch and continues currently at award winning animation studio, Made by Radio. Marcy comes to her art practice with an interest in world-making, taking into account the legacies of consumption, commerce, culture, language and mythology. Her work in illustration reflects her diverse experiences and passion for visual storytelling across different mediums.
